In the UK dojo, max is one of the main teachers for the kids class and as he has himself gone through the kids program I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to let him teach the kids in our dojo. So on Max’s last day at the dojo, we had 16 students turn up to learn Aikido from Max in English. The kids did an amazing job and didn’t really have any issues following what Max wanted them to do. We still had both Kaz and I to help with any translations and Jack was there too for support.
We had already covered the ukemi and the techniques a lot this month so there wasn’t much new to be taught, but the kids showed great energy and focus and were able to follow MAx’s instructions in English throughout the class.
To finish we played one of our favourite games - The Zanshin Game. I was so pleased to see Max’s way to play this as he added a new level of difficulty by adding combination instructions they kids had to follow rather than one at a time. It was really exciting and the students loved it.
I really feel it would be great to have someone like Max come and take a class again in the future, the students really did well with a new person and it was great to have them experience a different teacher.
Well done everyone!
