Hakama
Yesterday the Hakama I ordered online arrived. Up until now I have not been wearing a Hakama during training as it is not entirely necessary fro Yoshinkan Aikido. But now that I have passed my Shodan in Aikikai and will have to wear one there every time I practice and with the upcoming 1st Anniversary Demonstration where I will hyaave to wear one, I made the leap and got my first Hakama. So I can use the Hakama at both dojos I opted to have my name ポール embroidered in red to match our club’s colors and my Yoshinkan black belt.
Next I have to learn to wear one, the last time I donned a Hakama was when I did kyudo but that was a good 20 years ago. I am a bit worried about wearing a Hakama as I usually end up with my doji all over the pace when I train, so a Hakama will be one more thing to get messy and have to tidy up during training. I think I will continue to train without one in regular classes for now especially as I usually take part in the training as much as I can.
