Max’s Visit

This month has been particularly busy with both visitors to the dojo and dojo trips away. First was Max’s visit. At the start of the month Max came all the way from his trip to Malaysia and travelling aounds Japan to finally be the first person from the UK dojo to train at our dojo here in Hokkaido. Max joined us at the start of October and together with doing an internship at a farm in Hiroo and work experience with some vets around Tokachi he also managed to join as many classes as possible.

The kids absolutely loved having him in the class as it really was something quite different. It was a chance for both him to practice his Japanese but also for the children to have a change to hear and use English. Max also joined out adult and advanced classes where he really helped with out techniques and supported everyone. We were really impressed at his incredible ukemi!! He was able to lead the warm up for most classes and helped Yamashita san and I imrpive our Aiki-ken in the advanced classes. His help was invaluable.

Sadly his visit came to an end all too soon, but beofre it did, Max ran one of our kids classes all in English. We had an incredible turn out with 16 of the children there. The energy was fantastic in the class as they all worked really hard to both do thier best for Max and also try to understand what he wanted them to do. The language barrier wasn’t that hard to get over as they all did extremely well.

We then travelled to Tokyo where we met and trained wit Max again at the Sengenkan dojo along with other members of the UK dojo.

Thank you for coming Max. Osu!
