Spring Test and Training

Mach has been a busy moth for many reasons. We have had quite a few new members join us and quite a lot of trail members come along to classes to see what we do. It is exciting to see the dojo grow. This has also been a bit of a challenge with there being a grading coming up at the end of the month, we typically use the month before the grading to train for the grading. Trying to balance this with introducing new people t the club has been hard work, but worth it. The students have all been giving it their best and the visitors have been very understanding.

We have also held another very successful online class with Narita Sensei in Nottingham. This was our spring one and we had 6 adults come and train with a good number of people in the UK. Despite some technical difficulties we were able to work towards some skills needed for the grading and also look into Nihonme Kumite for the first time. Narita sensei had us practice and finish with a high pressure Hajime session at the end.

Next Monday and Friday we will have the gradings covering grades 8th to 6th kyu. The 6th kyu level starts to get a bit more challenging with the introduction of Go Waza! Luckily we have been doing this little by little over the last 6 months so the students are quite familiar with a lot of it already. For a few evenings we extended the training until 10pm and had a few people stay back and either continue training for the tests or try some more difficult techniques.

After the gradings are done, I have a Beginners Course planned, I am note sure how many people will want to come along. We will also be looking at organising the Trip to Tokyo in October to meet up with the visitors from our UK Head Dojo and also the Seminar in July to train with Mori Shihan in Sapporo! Hopefully we won’t have to cancel because of a huge amount of snow this time!
