Goshu-ryu Aiki Jujutsu Seminar - Sapporo
I have been lucky to have been put in touch with Michiharu Mori Sensei, 8th Dan Goshu-ryu Aiki Jujutsu who is also the last Uchi-deshi of Shioda Kancho Sensei. Recently he moved with his wife back to Japan and lucky for us he has moved to Sapporo. He is an expert at Yoshinkan Aikido and also his style incorporates his own twist on making Aikido practical.
On my trip to Tokyo to meet with Thambu Sensei, I also met some other practicitioners of Yoshinkan Aikido who all are good friends with Mori Sensei. It turns out they had a trip planned to Sappro to have a seminar with Mori Sensei. They kindly invited us to tag along, so i took two of my students early on Sunday morning to Nakajima Koen to meet with Mori Sensei for the first time and learn his style of Aikido.
It was a wonderful trip and we got to learn a new way to look at Aikido training using boxing techniques. We were most suprised at how small te Aikido world is as we realised we had connections with many of the other students who were attending. People had travelled from Askahikawa, Tokyo and Osaka to be there.
We are looking forward to building a connection with mori Sensei and his club and doing more cross training in the future.
